Medication Assisted Treatment
Medication assisted treatment, or MAT, is the use of medications to treat addictive disorders including opioids use disorder and alcohol disorder. Treatment is most effective when taken in combination with therapy.
MAT works by regulating brain chemistry and reducing substance cravings.
Opioid Use Disorder Medication includes buprenorphine and naltrexone.
Alcohol use disorder medications include acamprosate, disulfiram, and naltrexone.
