Group Therapy works
Group therapy is a type of therapy where a person is in a setting with others who also suffer from the same or similar condition. A therapist leads the group to identify issues and teach coping strategies to help with the specified issues.
The groups usually number several people, but they can be smaller too. Group therapy is very effective because the individual gets to learn from others as much as themselves in managing thought patterns and behaviors. Group therapy can also be a more relaxed environment than individual therapy. Individuals in group therapy can also become a support system to one another.
Common conditions that benefit from group therapy include:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- PTSD
